Our House Decor Style series is back this week with an office space for your home, in a Scandi style!

If you’ve been following me for a little while you might know by now that I love Scandinavian and Mid-Century styles, but I equally love mixing things up to make spaces more interesting and super functional. So, it’s time to have a look at this dreamy office space I’ve created for you!

  1. Concept Design

With this concept I wanted to bring forward the feeling of a calming environment and to achieve that I chose to:

  • Use a colour palette of light and muted tones. That is coming through with the light wood species, ideally ash, as well as the choice of paint colours for the walls. You could of course have them white but I personally find a muted dark blue as a feature wall very interesting, plus blue is a calming colour. For the rest of them, I’d favor an off white paint, with warm grey undertones.

  • Have ultra functional storage solutions to hide what needs to and keep the space clear of clutter (which can consciously or not have an effect on our emotions and mental health)

  • Bring the outdoors in with indoor plants

2. Sample Selections

For my selections, I always start with the “big” items first, work my way through smaller ones and down to accessories at the end.

So I started with the desk, which has Scandi vibes and is functional too with drawers to put things away when you’re finished with your day.
The iconic Eames armchair had to feature here, it’s not an iconic item for nothing, plus it is comfortable enough to sit on for few hours at times.
The other important thing for me to get right was the storage, I wanted the unit to be deep enough to be able to house a domestic printer, and the metal finish is a nice reference to the Bauhaus movement.

The rest comes together effortlessly with finishes either similar to the ones of the main items or complementing them such as the warm, brown coppery tones of the vases and planters, acting as the complementary colour of the muted blue paint.

This is just an example of what could be introduced, feel free to browse my favorite products to find and purchase stocked items.
