Hi lovely people!

We haven’t done a bathroom yet in the House Decor Style series, so here it is: a terrazzo inspired bathroom (or shower room really, it can apply to both). Let’s go quirky, keep the space visually interesting but balanced and with a contemporary twist.

  1. Concept Design

Terrazzo got really popular in the seventies and whilst some people love it, it is not to everyone’s taste.
I’m in fact the first one to find it can carry an old fashioned vibe if its design and colours are not carefully selected.

So to stay clear of that potential outdated look, I am really picky and favor first porcelain tiles in a terrazzo effect, where the design can be executed more precisely and second, the ones with a white or off white background to bring a freshness to it. I also personally prefer the ones with chips of strong and contrasted colours opposed to monochromatic ones.

So to celebrate terrazzo and its vibrant colours whilst keeping the space fresh, calming and with a contemporary feel, I made sure to:

  • Not introduce any other visually strong elements in terms of patterns, shapes or finishes

  • Use only colours and tones that could be found in my chosen terrazzo, tying everything together

  • Keep the lines curvy and soft

2. Sample Selections

A bathroom design is highly specific to a space, its dimensions and a budget.

I want you to feel great in your space but also advise you on how to make it special and functional. So bear in mind the below selections are inspirations, they won’t fit in every space or budget but they will give you a base for achieving the look!

Feel free to also browse my favorite products to find and purchase stocked items.
